Unele verbe de relatare au construcții fixe: „suggest” + forma în -ing sau „suggest that” + propoziție („He suggested meeting at six.”; nu „suggested us to meet”); „accuse somebody of” + forma în -ing; „deny” + forma în -ing („She denied breaking the window.”); „apologise for” + forma în -ing; „offer”, „refuse” și „promise” + infinitiv cu „to”.
