La fracții, numărătorul este un numeral cardinal, iar numitorul unul ordinal, care primește „-s” când numărătorul e mai mare decât unu: a third, two thirds, three quarters. După „half of”, „a third of”, „three quarters of”, verbul se acordă cu substantivul care urmează: „Three quarters of the work was done.”, „Half of the students were late.” La numeralele compuse, doar ultima parte devine ordinală: twenty-one – twenty-first, thirty-two – thirty-second, forty-three – forty-third. Frecvența se arată prin numerale multiplicative: once, twice, three times a day. „Hundred”, „thousand” și „million” nu primesc „-s” după un număr („two hundred people”), dar îl primesc când arată o cantitate nedefinită, urmate de „of”: „hundreds of people”, „thousands of letters”.
